In Shariatpur, a protest rally and meeting were held by the Women's Wing of the district BNP, demanding the death penalty for the rapists of Achiya.
The protest began on Tuesday, March 18, with a procession starting from the front of the Shariatpur Freedom Fighters Office. The rally marched through the main roads and culminated in a meeting in front of the Shariatpur Central Shaheed Minar.
The event was presided over by the President of Shariatpur District Women's Wing, Al Asma Ul Husna. The chief guest at the event was Haji BM Harun Ar Rashid, the Vice President of Shariatpur District BNP and President of the District Farmers' Association.
Also present were, Nur Jahan Begum, Vice President of Shariatpur District Women's Wing, Munni Habiba, Convener of Sakhipur Thana, Mamataz Begum, General Secretary of Naria Upazila, Shahana Akter, Convener of Naria Municipality, and several leaders from the district, upazila, and municipality women's wing.
Speakers at the rally expressed strong demands for the immediate execution of Achiya's rapists. They called for the public execution of these "beasts" and demanded the highest punishment for them. They also raised concerns for the safety of women, children, and the general public, urging the current government to take necessary actions to ensure security.
