After Donald Trump’s re-election as U.S. President, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the U.S. to discuss bilateral relations. However, despite addressing various issues, Modi failed to secure any significant agreements, which has sparked criticism from India’s leading media outlets.
In response to Modi’s unsuccessful visit, an Indian media outlet published a satirical cartoon mocking him. This has angered BJP supporters, leading to threats and restrictions on the media organization’s operations. The media fraternity in India has strongly opposed this, warning that any attack on freedom of speech will not be tolerated. Several other media houses have also expressed solidarity with the affected outlet.
A viral video on social media has further embarrassed Modi, showing him chained by his hands and feet while Trump laughs uncontrollably. The video has been widely interpreted as a humiliating moment for Modi.
During a press conference, an Indian journalist questioned Trump about Bangladesh-related issues. In response, Trump directed the question back to Modi, a reaction that Indian media has described as a diplomatic slap.
Additionally, during Modi&rsq uo;s visit, U.S. authorities continued their crackdown on illegal Indian immigrants, causing further discontent among Indian communities. Furthermore, Trump announced an increase in tariffs on Indian goods and pressured Modi into buying expensive oil and defense equipment from the U.S. Many Indians are now questioning why so much money is being spent on these deals.
Despite high expectations, Modi’s visit lacked any noteworthy achievements, leading to widespread criticism from the opposition and the general public. As a result, India’s media has strongly condemned the visit as a failure.
