Human Chain and Work Abstention for National ID Service under Election Commission's Control in Shariatpur
Shariatpur District Election Office officials and employees held a human chain and work abstention demanding that the National ID service be placed under the control of the Election Commission.
The protest was held from Thursday morning until noon. Officials and employees from the Shariatpur District Election Office participated in the protest.
District Election Officer Mizanur Rahman stated, "The Election Commission is constitutionally responsible for maintaining the voter list. The responsibility for both local government and national elections lies with the Election Commission. The voter list and National ID are interconnected. If the National ID service is separated from the voter list, it will lose its accuracy and cause disorder. Therefore, we demand that the National ID and voter list remain under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission."
