Nurul Haque Nur, the president of a faction of the Gono Adhikar Porishod, has called for the resignation of all students currently representing the government. He made this statement during an emergency press conference at the central office of Gono Adhikar Porishod in the Bijoynagar Al-Razi Complex on Saturday (March 1).

Nur said, "Since students representing the government have formed a political party, I urge all students representing the government, including the two other student advisers (Asif Mahmood and Mahfuz Alam), to resign to maintain the neutrality of the government and retain the trust of the public and political leaders."

He further stated, "Through the July mass uprising, there was a desire to build a new Bangladesh by overthrowing fifteen years of fascism, but due to invisible domestic and foreign conspiracies, this could not be realized. A government centered on a specific circle has been formed, causing divisions and cracks in the national unity that was built around the mass uprising. This division is not something we can afford at this moment."

The leader of Gono Adhikar Porishod continued, "In this situation, one of the three student advisers has resigned and formed a new political party. As a youth-based political party, Gono Adhikar Porishod always encourages the participation of young people in politics and welcomes the formation of new parties. However, a few student leaders, in the name of the mass uprising, have been interfering with the ad ministration, creating discomfort among government employees and the public."

He also emphasized that there is a need for state and political reforms to implement the people's desire for a new political system and a new Bangladesh, stating, "Although student leaders continue to follow old paths, it would be a betrayal of the people. Unfortunately, this is what has been observed in the past six months—corruption, lobbying, appointments, tender business, and other unethical practices have already been exposed on social media and in the press."

Nur also pointed out unethical practices during the new political party’s inauguration, such as the District Commissioner’s notice to participate in a Dhaka program, and pressure being put on transport owners and associations to provide vehicles, calling these acts "completely unethical and unacceptable."

He urged all to refrain from creating false and misleading narratives, similar to the portrayal of the Liberation War by the Awami League, and emphasized, "The July mass uprising was not organized by any one particular organization or leaders, but was the collective effort of political leaders and the spontaneous participation of students and the public."

The event was attended by senior members of Gono Adhikar Porishod, including Faruk Hasan, Shakil Uzzaman, Shahidul Islam Fahim, Fatima Tasneem, Jasim Uddin Akash, and Mahfuzur Rahman Khan, among others.
