Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanuallah has stated that, in line with the government's instructions, the Election Commission is preparing for the national election, targeting December. However, he mentioned that if the government desires, some local government elections can be held on a limited scale before that. But, if large-scale elections for five levels of local government are to be held, it could disrupt or delay the national election schedule.
He made these remarks after a meeting with 18 development partners, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), regarding election-related assistance, on Tuesday (11th February).
