FIFA President Gianni Infantino will visit Bangladesh before March. During his visit, he has expressed positive signals regarding financial support for women’s football in Bangladesh.
This promise was made during a meeting with Bangladesh's Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Information about the meeting and the visit was shared through the Chief Advisor’s Facebook page.
In the meeting, Infantino assured support for the development of women’s football in Bangladesh, including housing and infrastructure assistance. While Professor Yunus requested FIFA's help in this regard, Infantino mentioned that FIFA is already assisting in the development of women’s football in Saudi Arabia, and the benefits of this initiative would also extend to the Bangladeshi expatriates living there.
The FIFA President also praised Professor Yunus' efforts to make the sports industry carbon neutral. He further promised potential support for the development of football in South Asia. He stated, “I wish to visit Bangladesh within the next two months.”
